HOME-START (a voluntary home visiting program) is urgently seeking people with parenting, life and work experience. Your wisdom and experience is truly valued and you can share your knowledge and practical skills to assist a family with young children through a difficult time. After completing the Preparation Course, you’re only asked for just a couple of hours per week. Home-Start in Newcastle, East and North Lake Macquarie, is offering a Preparation Course for Volunteers in Adamstown commencing Wednesday, 4th August. Presenter Russel Stanley is a church historian with a passion for the Reformation era. The seminars will be held in the Uniting Church, William Street, Raymond Terrace, commencing at 11am and 1:30pm both days, with a light lunch provided. Handouts and other resources will be available. Not For Sale equips and mobilizes Smart activists to deploy innovative solutions to re-abolish slavery in their own backyards and across the globe through their “Stop paying for slavery” tour. The theme this year is the 'Wild west' with singing, games, stories, craft, fun and morning tea for all who attend. Cost $3 per child per day (or attend 4 days and get 5th day free).
