1000 CHURCHES UNITE STATEWIDE FOR MEDIA CAMPAIGN

    Media Release July 28, 2009

More than 1000 churches (250,000 people) from all Christian
denominations across NSW have come together for a massive multi-media
communication campaign to be run later this year.

They have registered to be a part of ‘Jesus. All about life’,
which is planned for the whole of NSW lin September and October.

'Jesus. All about life'  is an initiative of Bible Society NSW and
the first time all Christian denominations have come together under
    the one umbrella.

The ‘Jesus. All about life’ campaign will see TV and print ads and
internet messages blanket the state for six weeks from the middle of
    September.

Churches will also hang JAAL banners, in the hope 80% of the
population of NSW will see the ‘Jesus. All about life’ message at
least 8 times throughout the duration of the campaign.

The non-denominational campaign aims to encourage people to think
about the importance of faith and what Jesus had to say ‘about
    life’.

Bible Society CEO Daniel Willis says the campaign is long overdue.

“We live in a world where the Golden Arches is more prominent than
the cross,” he says. “For six weeks later this year, the name of
Jesus will be the most prominent advertising message in NSW, and with
the manpower of 1000 churches behind us so far, the campaign will
have a major impact on the people of NSW. “

V8 Supercar driver Andrew Fisher, has already created a stir for the
campaign by running the ‘Jesus. All about life’ signage on his
race car, which has been seen by a million spectators over the past
year as part of the V8 Supercar and Yokohama V8 Ute series.

Fisher also speaks to more than 50,000 high school students every
year, as well as speaking at conferences, events and Juvenile
Detention Centres across the country, about the importance of making
    courageous decisions.

“’Jesus. All about life’ gives people the opportunity to
consider what Jesus had to say and how relevant that is for life
today,” he says. “‘Jesus. All about life’ allows Christians to
engage with the people around them and let them know what Jesus is
    all about.”

The campaign kicks-off on September 15, when churches all over the
state will step up and hold community events under the name of
    ‘Jesus. All about life’.

    QUOTES FROM RELIGIOUS LEADERS:-

President of the Greater Sydney Conference of Seventh-day Adventists,
Pr David Blanch says they love the message the campaign promotes in
    society.

“We have a high regard for the work of the Bible Society,” he
says, “ and know working with them will be a positive experience for
our congregations, while delivering an important message to the
    people of Sydney.”

Baptist Union President Norm Mix has also commended the campaign’s
    aims. “We

believe JAAL is a wonderful opportunity for all of our churches and
every Christian to talk about Jesus Christ to their friends,
workmates, neighbours in a way that is not normally possible.”

Rev. Karl Faase, who has worked on the ‘Jesus. All about life’
campaign in other states with Bible Society says the church’s role
in the world community is to bring the message of Jesus to all
people.  “So we have committed to a co-ordinated, national response
to let people know the message of Jesus is relevant in the Australian
    context,” he says.

“Jesus. All about life ads don’t contain the gospel message, but
will be a presence in the community so Australians will consider
    faith as an option.
“If the JAAL campaign can help the church move past cynicism and
criticism,” says Rev. Karl, “ we may well have done the kingdom of
God in Australia a great service.”
Hillsong’s Darlene Zschech has also thrown considerable support
behind JAAL. Darlene is one of the world’s leading Christian
musicians. Her song ‘Shout to the Lord’ is sung by an estimated 20
    million churchgoers every week.
“We are excited that we can come together to take the Jesus. All
about life campaign out into our community,” she says “This is our
moment, this is our time and I'm honoured to be a part of it.”
