Since around February this year and the advent of “Covid-19” all our lives have changed so dramatically. Our lives have been turned upside down. In our communities there’s been fear, anxiety, depression, feelings of helplessness and hopelessness for all of us and so many all around us every day. It’s in our face through all levels and outlets of media. We can’t go anywhere without being told with signage  to keep our 1.5 metre social distancing. Use Sanitizer every which way we turn. We’ve been isolated from our Church families, isolated from our family members especially if they live interstate or overseas.  We just can’t escape it. It’s been a long time from February until now.

Having said all this, we give thanks to God for our Government and country’s leadership. The decisions that have had to be taken are probably almost as difficult as the decisions that had to be made by our leaders during WWII. For most of us we’re all desiring that COVID-19 would come to an end sooner than later. People who do not have our Lord Jesus in their heart and lives live through fear every day. For those of us who know Him, we don’t have to live through fear every day. So what does the Bible really say about such things?

Here’s a reminder of some very encouraging things God reminds us of:

Isaiah 41:10
‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Deuteronomy 31:8
The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

When the people  of Israel followed God’s leading through Moses out of captivity and out of Egypt they had no idea what lay ahead for them. The first big thing they faced was standing at the edge of the Red sea with Pharaoh and the whole Egyptian army bearing down on them! How could this be? Through Moses they were virtually just set free by Pharaoh, now shall they all be killed by Pharaoh and his armies and their swords ??

In the face of great adversity Moses listened to God’s voice in his life and Moses said the most remarkable words to all the people:

Exodus 14:13
The Sea Is Divided
But Moses said to the people, “Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever.

And that’s exactly what happened, we all know the story I’m sure as the Red Sea parted as Moses held up his staff and they walked through the “dry” sea floor to safety and what seemed to be the devourer behind them was seen no more forever. Let me encourage you today “choose” to ‘Fear Not’ today and from here forward. Trust in God. Know that He’s got this!  And like He told the people of Israel once during a massive battle with some enemies, He said:  “Do Not listen to the battle Noise” . Together let’s put our safety and trust in Him and not listen to the battle noise that may be all around us in the modern era in which we all live, as bad news comes at us from all directions. Let’s choose to listen to His voice instead! Let’s choose to trust in His safety and protection over us.
