Celebrate Inclusion at the Hunter International Day of People with Disability Community Fun Day
Cessnock, NSW – On Tuesday 3 December, the Hunter region will come together to celebrate the 2024 International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD) with a free Community Fun Day at Cessnock PCYC.
From 10am to 1pm, all members of the community—individuals, families, local businesses, schools, support providers, and more—are invited to join in a day of fun, connection and celebration of people with disability and our inclusive Hunter community.
The event is proudly co-designed with people with disability as well as local disability employment, NDIS and allied health providers. It offers a unique opportunity for everyone to gather, enjoy live entertainment, games, interactive sessions, stalls, food and prizes in an inclusive setting.
“More than 1 in 5 people in the Hunter have a disability. This event is about celebrating the vital role that people with disability play in our region and highlighting the importance of creating a community where everyone belongs,” says James Alexander, a member of the event committee.
The Hunter IDPWD Community Fun Day is the region’s flagship event to celebrate International Day of People with Disability. Now in its fourth year, the 2024 event is expected to be the largest yet.
Whether it’s through fun activities, learning from one another or simply being present, everyone is invited to come together to celebrate people with disability and what makes our community strong and diverse.
