At Rhema 99.7, we believe in celebrating the people who make a difference in our lives—especially the women who inspire, uplift, and encourage us. As we recognize International Women’s Day this March, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible impact that the women in our lives have had on our journeys.
We asked some of the women in our office this question:
“What woman in your life has had the biggest impact on you, and how did she influence your journey?”
Why did we ask this? Because we know that behind every person striving to live out their faith, pursue their calling, and overcome challenges, there are strong and faithful women who have played a role in shaping their story. Whether it’s a mother, sister, mentor, or friend, these women reflect God’s love through their guidance, support, and wisdom.
As Proverbs 31:26 reminds us:
“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”
Now, let’s hear from the ladies in our team as they share about the women who have made a lasting impact on their lives.

Laurel, Daily Life with Laurel
The person that had the most influence on me was the reason I got here (well, actually, two reasons). Because of their support, I enjoyed a rich and diverse career in entertainment and media…But as my mum, she is also the actual reason I am here. You see, I had a very unusual childhood. At the age of four, I ran onto the stage and then pretty much spent most of my life either there or on and behind cameras, including performing in a number of major musicals whilst still at school. This required very long rehearsals and much travel back and forth.
My mum never complained. Her dedication to my career was unwavering and she constantly encouraged me to reach for the stars. She showed generous hospitality to whatever gang of friends I brought home, drama students, presenters, singers, or camera crews. I lost my mum last year, but a few months before she passed away, I sent her a long letter thanking her for everything she had done for me, and I let her know that she was the reason that I made it here.

I would have to say my mum has had the biggest impact on my life journey. From a young age, I struggled at school and had difficulty grasping things that came easily to others. My mum faced similar challenges growing up—she struggled at school and even as she entered the workforce as a young woman. Despite being told by many adults to dream small, she didn’t let that stop her. Instead, she dreamed big, completed university, and went on to have a successful nursing career. Later, she taught at university while still working in the hospital.

My mum was always one of my biggest supports, reminding me that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. She taught me that learning differently shouldn’t hold me back—it just meant I had to work harder. She showed me that even when things are tough, hard work and determination can make all the difference.
This lesson has stayed with me throughout my life. Now, when the odds seem against me or things feel too difficult, I remind myself to grit my teeth and push through. I’ve learned that perseverance and effort can overcome any obstacle.

The woman who has had the biggest impact on my life is undoubtedly my mum. Through every high and low, she’s been my unwavering pillar of support, always knowing the right thing to say and offering a comforting presence. Her wisdom and kindness have guided me through the hardest of times, and her encouragement has lifted me when I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders.
Our relationship is not just special; it is a true blessing from God. I often find myself praying, “God, please never take my mum from me until I can live without her.”
That’s how invaluable her presence is in my life. The connection we share is deeply rooted in love and faith, a bond that only grows stronger with time. I know some women don’t have that same connection with their mum, but for me, it’s a unique and irreplaceable relationship.
When I face challenges, my mum is always there to offer guidance and support, reminding me of my strength and resilience. Her love is a constant source of comfort and inspiration. She has taught me the importance of compassion, perseverance, and faith. Her influence on my journey is immeasurable, and I am forever grateful for the countless ways she has shaped me into the person I am today.
Audrey, Marketing Executive
The woman who has had the biggest impact on my life is undoubtedly my mom (spelled “m-o-m,” as I was raised in a wonderful American household). She raised me with love, selflessness, and strength, always empowering me to be my best. There was never a day I felt unsupported—her love, rooted in faith, shaped who I am today.
Growing up, it was just the two of us, and our life together was built on faith, tradition, and love. Some of my favorite memories are our Saturday pancake breakfasts, Monday night Bible studies, and Friday movie nights—small but meaningful rituals in our home.

She didn’t just teach values—she lived them. One of her greatest lessons was: If you’re going to do something, do it right. But more than saying it, she demonstrated it daily through quiet integrity, faithfulness, and grace.
Even now, when I make mistakes, she shares her own with laughter and wisdom, teaching through her life’s experiences. As an adult, she is still my greatest mentor, always pointing me back to faith. I wouldn’t be who I am today without her—not just because of what she taught me, but because of the example she set every single day.
