Last year my husband Craig and I were blessed by the gift of our beautiful baby girl Elliana. Born about 6 weeks before Christmas we enjoyed our first Christmas as a family. This was such a special time as after many prayers God answered and gave us our miracle baby.
We are so looking forward to this year as she is now one year old. She is very much more aware of what is happening around her and I can’t wait to see the look on her face on Christmas morning as she sees the Christmas tree with presents under it. Even though she is only young I’m sure she will still want to try and unwrap the gifts. It is hard to explain in words how much she means to us. Her smile alone fills the room with so much joy.
This reminds me of the kind of joy we experience around Christmas as we celebrate the birth of God’s only son Jesus. When the Angels announced his birth they rolled back the heavens singing ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people he favours!’ Luke 2:14 They loudly proclaimed with great joy that our saviour, the greatest gift the world could ever receive had arrived!
We are going to create many Christmas memories with Elliana and we are so looking forward to teaching her what the true meaning of Christmas is all about. As much as presents are a great gift to receive on Christmas day, the greatest gift of all is the birth of Jesus and what he has done and sacrificed for all of us. This Christmas, take a moment to thank God for giving us the greatest gift!
